Emma Sherry Abstract Artists Shrewsbury

PRESS RELEASE: ‘Ebb & Flow’ abstract art on show in Shrewsbury

A collection of eclectic abstract art will be showcased in Shrewsbury by two Shropshire-based artists during February and March. Emma Sherry from Oswestry and Susie Davies from Craven Arms will be showing their work at the Gateway Gallery on Chester Street from 24 February to 24 March 2023.

Stefan Chabluk, Gallery Chairman, said "Susie and Emma exhibited in our recent Dazzle exhibition, their abstract artwork was really well received so we are very excited for them to return and show us all some more of their work."

Susie said, “Both Emma and I are delighted to have been invited back to the Gateway Gallery to exhibit more of our abstract artwork. Although our artwork looks very different, our approach to our art is very similar in that we both paint intuitively using acrylic and mixed-media, and our paintings have a lot of layers and textural detail.”

Emma and Susie’s artwork will add to the very vibrant art scene in Shrewsbury which that hosts various events throughout the year, such as the very popular Arts Trail which takes place over the summer months throughout the town. Emma added, “Mmy technique is about creating energy and depth through the use of bold colour, mark-making and collage. I often use a brutal colour palette of highly-contrasting colours to create a sense of movement and energy and I enjoy allowing the unexpected to happen which produces intriguing surprises within my work.”

The Gateway Gallery has a superb reputation for showcasing contemporary works and is a fantastic space for artists to promote their art in a central location. H in town, having recently reopened, it is sure to be a popular destination for artists and art-lovers alike.

Emma and Susie look forward to welcoming you to their ‘Ebb & Flow’ exhibition. For those interested in attending the private view on Thursday 23 March, where they will get the opportunity to meet the artists, please email emma@thesherrys.co.uk.
